How can I schedule a tour?
You are more than welcome to come by anytime between 9:00 am and
4:00 pm for a tour. (No appointment necessary.) Keep in mind that the
toddlers and preschoolers are napping from 12:30-2:30, so if you come at
that time the lights in the classroom will be off, making things a little more
difficult to see.
How do you communicate with parents?
We communicate with parents by sending notes home, phone calls directly
to parents and speaking with parents during drop off and pick up. If a
parent/guardian has a concern a conference can also be scheduled so we
have more time to discuss the situation. We always feel it is best if we are
all working together on the same goals for the best interest of the child.
How do you handle discipline?
At BrightStar we try to always start with positive language and
reinforcement to get an acceptable behavior. (i.e. walking feet, inside voice,
good listening, etc.). We then can use redirection to direct the child to a
different activity or area to focus the negative behavior to a more positive
one. If the behavior continues or is excessive, such as hurting someone,
we do use time-out. Which is typically one minute per year of their age.
This time is used to calm their body down and self-regulate with guidance
and support. The teacher then will get down to the child’s level,
acknowledging their emotions and with age-appropriate language discuss
alternative ways to achieve a desired outcome.
Do you offer a part-time schedule?
In our Infant/Toddler program we offer 2, 3, 4 and 5 day schedules. We also
offer a discounted rate for pickup before 3:00 pm.
In our Pre-school program we offer 2, 3, 4 and 5 days a week for full days.
We also offer a half day program from 8:15 am-12:15 pm that is available 2,
3, 4 and 5 days a week.
In our School-age program we offer 2, 3, 4 and 5 days a week.

What are your ratios?
In each classroom, we maintain the ratio required by the Department of Social
Services and Community Care Licensing Division under Title 22. For your peace of
mind, the appropriate ratios are always maintained.

- Infants/Toddlers- 1:4
- Yellow Suns- 1:12 (we typically run a 1:9 ratio and we always try to have two
teachers in this classroom)
- Yellow Ducks- 1:12 (we typically run a 1:9 ratio and we always try to have
two teachers in this classroom)
- Birds/Pre-K- 1:12
- School-age- 1:14 (Field Trips 1:10)
